You mentioned that you tried to add r143a to the system, but it is still warm? Sometimes, when I tighten a can to the supply hose, it is too tight and no gases will leave the can. Strange, but true. Shake the can before using and try adding some more. The top of the can should get cold if the gas is moving through it. Also, the 2 lines that go through the firewall should also get cold.
