I believe that Klaus was also correct, and I understand your frustration and feeling that you're not going to get your car up and running correctly now unless you take it to a Volvo specific service center. The dealer's service department can access more specific information for Volvo's much quicker, but that doesn't mean that with patients you wouldn't have reached the same conclusion. I'm thinking that the dealer actually got other codes too...codes that are secondary to the one they found to be the real issue. They then fault traced things back to where they made the part exchange. The generic codes that AutoZone will give you (or my code reader for that matter) can also be fault traced and the conclusion would have been the same as the dealer's. It's just that the dealer's service guy didn't want to write every single detail down on your service sheet. That's okay...what matters is that it was fixed. In my case, I work hours that don't allow taking my car to a shop that is only open on weekdays so, most all of my own repairs are done on the weekends. The "generic" code reader I have along with the knowledge I obtain here (especially from Klaus, and other forums) and my own experience gives me enough information to fault trace most issues and solve them myself. Sorry that I'm rambling...guess what I was trying to say was that both your service guy at the dealer and Klaus were correct...or at least I feel that with a few more posts he and you would have nailed the issue down to the TPS and just had that replaced, or done it yourself if you are mechanically inclined. My point to all of this is, don't feel that you HAVE to take your car to a Volvo specific repair place every time something goes wrong with your car from here on out. Of course there are exceptions, but I feel personally that most all of the issues with my car, I can take care of, and I had never turned a wrench until I owned my first Volvo in '98 and began educating myself by coming to these forums and reading about issues with our cars.
