Sounds reasonable to me. Inflation applies to mechanics salaries too. It does take a while to change the accumulator/dryer and then evacuate the system, pressure test it and add r143a. The cost of the r134a was out of bounds for me, but if I were a shop, I would not have accepted a part handed to me by a customer.
After all of that work, why didn't you replace the accumulator yourself? The system was already empty. Then you should have just had the shop evacuate and refill.
