Tracing down vacuum leak 850

Ken,
That one way valve should keep you from blowing air towards the intake manifold, just like the old vacuum brake line. That needs replacing. The solenoid, I am not sure about, whether it should hold a vacuum or if the switch is just going to move if there is vacuum. Also check the filter in the vacuum line to make sure it is still pink and clean.
