Maintaining an 850 850

Get yourself a copy of the Volvo 850 repair manual from Haynes. Too many pages on engine and tranny overhauling, but great for brakes and lightbulbs. Get yourself a floor jack and two jack stands or ramps. And you will need a torque wrench for up to 100lbs/in. The wheels are 82lbs.

Read all of the articles on http://www.volvospeed.com/maintence.htm

You will not need an OBDII code reader, there are self diagnosing boxes in the engine bay.

You might need a torx driver set. At least 15, 20, 25, and 40 sizes.
If the AC no longer pumps out cold air, it may need a charge of R134a. Auto parts stores sell kits which include a pressure gauge.

Change the engine oil, flush the tranny oil, replace the timing belt with a new tensioner and pully wheels. Change the serpentine belt at the same time.

Do not overmaintain it, these cars like to be driven.
