Not wishing to sound dense on this end, but are your sure you are looking at the CEL or Service light? The Service light will come on for two minutes and then go off. You can reset the service light with the 2 boxes, just look it up on Bay13 or on this site 700FAQs.
There is no way you can get a CEL with out a code being stored first.
