Probably seals ready to fail, due in part to previous history of pressure, not recent lack of pressure. I did the exhaust side a couple years ago. Old seal was very brittle and obviously ready to go. Had to be picked out with a probe (gently, no scratching). Otherwise quite easy to do. Make or find a tool or large dowel of soft material so you can push the new seal in evenly without damaging the bore.
