I mix OEM rotors and pads on the rear brakes all of the time. I like PBR Metal Masters, less dust. The rear pads come with shims builtin, but I still use anti squeal brake grease from IPD. It really works.
The only time you ever need to turn rotors is when a small lip forms on the outside edge, but then the rotor is usually too thin for new pads anyway.
