Hi Steve,
There is a great web-page on this at "Bay 13" - (Google / Bay 13 + Volvo.)
Has complete instructions and digital pic's of all steps involved.
FYI, in addition to the rattle kit, it is a good idea after removing the
factory clips, (which tend to fall apart when removing the tailgate) to
cover the contact points with a good quality velco - it helps hold the
tailgate in place and acts as further noise insulation.
