Headlight warning light? all lights on? S70 1998

When I turn my headlights on I get the yellow headlight warning light on my dash. The only lights that the switch really turns on is the interior dash lights and some rear running lights. They all seem to be working...any thoughts as to why the warnging light is coming on? The light for the shifter doesn't work, but it was that way before the warning light came on.
