Ok I figured this one out (with some help). Seems it's most likely the hood latch sensor. In my case, simply opening and closing the hood and then pressing down on each corner of the front of the hood fixed the issue. If your sensor is actually broken its most likely going to need to be replaced. I'd start with opening and closing the hood though.
