Yes I know the fuse basically protects against a short circuit, which is why I think it would be better to have at least the third brake light on a different fuse because it does happen! The brake lights are extremely important and to have them on the same fuse I still think is stupid because I was driving around for several days without any rear brake lights without any notice. This should never happen! The third brake light should be on a different fuse at least. Even more stupid, my main complaint, is the false sense of security Volvo gives its drivers with that warning light that goes on when a brake light bulb goes out that doesn't check if the entire brake light system is out due to all the lights being on the same fuse and the fuse being blown. Volvo is just asking for a lawsuit with such stupid design. Anyone know if this has been fixed, either with putting at least the third brake light on a different fuse, or having the warning light go on if the single fuse is blown, with the '05 redesign?
