s60 gas overflows when filling up S60

My wife got a 2004 S60 this past summer (turbo if it matters). Almost every time we fill up with gas and let the pump automatically shut off the gas overflows. I think it gushes out right after the pump shuts off. Also, if I try filling up and manually stopping the pump (listen for the tank to fill up, can pretty much tell when it is about full) the same thing happens - right when it shuts off gas spews out.

We have 2 850's and never had this happen with them. Obviously, this is messy, environmentally bad, and just annoying.

Any idea why this happens? Workarounds?

Sorry if a duplicate, I searched several combinations of (s60, gas, fuel, spill, overflow, maybe some others) and did not find a similar post.
