Any Volvo dealer can provide the four digit code for the radio. Assuming it's original to the car, they can look it up by the VIN number of the car. My dealer also wanted to see my registration, partly to get the VIN, partly to make sure I was the actually the owner...

Inputting the code is straightforward as I recall. I think if you put in the wrong code too many times the display will say "off" and then you have to disconnect the radio for a few hours before you can try again.
