850T pros and cons 850

Buy one, its a pretty good car.

I bought my 93 850 GLT in 1999 with 60k on it. I now have 162k on the car and it has only been to the shop twice. Once was a full timing belt, water pump, belt replacement and the other time was the rough idle/stutter/jerky acceleration problem that every 850 seems to have. Can't avoid the first one, but I will never take mine back in for the idle problem, which the dealer was unable to fix. To fix that one, clean the throttle body and flame track, make sure the battery terminals are clean, clean the idle air control valve (all free up to now), then replace throttle control sensor which is almost always the problem. I just did my second one last month; its about $60 and 1/2 hour.

Other than a radiator that I just noticed is leaking my 850 runs fantastic. Its also very safe, I was rear ended by a lady doing 35. Her Accord was totaled, cracked radiator had to be towed on a flat bed. My 850 had a bent bumper and no body damage. If you can find manual adjusting seats, go for those, I have had a constant battle with my electric seats.

Good Luck!
