There is a fragile round ring between the steering column and the steering wheel which will need to be replaced. Quite common. The air bag must come off first, so make sure you disconnect the battery. You may NOT turn the ignition on until the air bag is reconnected. (LOL, the Haynes manual says to put the key in the ignition and in pos II, then reconnect the battery. That way, if the bag goes off you will be in front of the car!!)
It is really not a hard task. Just 2 torx screws to remove the air bag.

You may want to disconnect the wires at the horns so you can use the wipers.
