Having an Indie check it out is a must. If the prior owner added a can of R134a to the AC, you will not know the evap leaks for at least one month. Then, adding a can yourself once a month doesn't cost that much either. My 1998 still has some in its system since last September, but needs another can real soon. The higher the pressure, the more it leaks out. Unlike my 850, which just leaks all of the way down.
The RMS is a bit harder. You can see if it leaks, through the hole where the oil would come out of. Just start the engine and pull the dipstick, then lightly put your finger ofer the opening and check for a light vacuum. If there is a push, the PCV and lines need to be cleaned. Keeping a negative manifold pressure will negate a RMS failure.
Also check the tranny fluid for color.
Is there any documentation for service?
