I think that you should try the flush. I have seen many posts of improvements in transmission shifting after a flush. To save some money, you should do it yourself and use regular fluid. A second flush after 10,000 miles could be with synthetic.
Check volvospeed for instructions and more tranny info.
The PNP is a separate issue, I have not seen any posts of conventional transmission problems that get better after the transmission warms up, so your PNP appears to be bad as well.
