Hello All,
I have a 1996 850 GLT Wagon that originally came with two remote key fobs. Recently, I obtained a spare remote key fob. I programmed it to lock/unlock the car (sat inside the car with the doors locked and turned the accessory key on/off 5 times and pressed the "lock" button on the remote on the 5th cycle). I noticed however, that once the spare remote fob was programmed, one of the original remote fobs no longer worked. I assumed the alarmed system on the car could only respond to two remote fobs. So, I reprogrammed the original remote key fob that wasn't working, and once again it did work. The spare remote key fob no longer worked and I put it aside aside for future use. The two original remote key fobs were not working.
Recently, one of the original remote key fobs stopped working. I ruled out that the battery was weak. Instead, when I reprogrammed the remote key fob it started working again. However, then the other remote key fob would stop working. When I reprogrammed the remote key fob that had just stopped working, it would start working again, but then the remote key fob that had originally not be working would stop. It seems now that the alarm system on the car will only respond to one remote key fob.
Has anyone had this experience? If so, what is the solution? I like to have to two remote key fobs that work because my wife and I use this car on alternate days and it is a real convenience. Thanks to all who reply.
Hugh
