How can I remove the front grille? What about those black rivets? Are they the answer? ... V70-XC70

Preface: I tried previously to post this (below) in just the S60 forum, but never got a response, so I'm reaching out to all the AWD forums in the hopes that maybe someone with an S40, V70, or other newer model that has similar grille construction might know how to advise me.
In advance, thanks to all.

Hi, all.
I visited my daughter last week in L.A., and I brought a VCOA grille badge -- she's a member, too -- for her new ('07) S60.

But here's my question: I couldn't figure out how to remove the grille, or even get my hand behind it to hold a wrench (to tighten a nut behind the grille badge). The grille has various shields or plates both above and below it (nothing to pass my hand through), and no obvious way to release and pull out the grille.

The only possibility (unless I missed something else) seems to be what look like black plastic rivets at various points around the grille. Are these rivets the secret to gaining access? If so, how do you remove them (without causing cosmetic body damage), and reinstall their replacements -- do I need a special tool to install them?

I'm personally just experienced with 240s, and have never before seen those rivets (if that's what they are) on the new cars.

Thanks all. I'd like to learn the secret, so I can try again the next time I fly out to visit her.
