The glass has nothing to do with the error message. That comes from the microswitch in the lock assembly. The best way to check that out is to open the hatch and using a screwdriver, force the lock into the completely locked position. If the lock message then goes away, it might be a simple matter of moving the catch on top of the bumper forward 1/8inch. Otherwise, if all of the other electricals in the door work, and new/expensive latch is needed.
