Pull the spark plug cover and you may see a large pool of oil on top of the head.. The breather hose that runs right up next to the oil filler cap gets brittle, cracks and leaks. Messy and cheap. While you're there, pull the spark plugs and look for a black wet one.

Turbo drain O-ring and gasket ok?

Very messy and not cheap would be the oil cooler inside the radiator leaking. Any water or sludge on the dipstick or black coolant in the expansion tank?

3 quarts per 1000miles is a LOT of oil. It has to be going somewhere. If there's not a white cloud of smoke trailing the car or a pool underneath it in the driveway I'm stumped.
