I had the same problem. The other factor is that not enough power is getting to the clutch. Check the voltage at the clutch wire when it is running. I ran a wire into the car and was able to watch the volt meter as I drove around. The clutch was getting only 11 volts when it would start to get warm. This is not enough to operate the clutch when everything gets hot. I added a relay (std. bosch 40amp.) and gave the clutch full battery voltage. Properly fused. It ran all last summer and is still working fine now. If you need details let me know.
