Hi Dave,
I just installed a set of Koni Sport struts. Nice and soft in the softest position, but lots of control, great for all of the expansion bumps around here!
Get your shocks/struts from shox.com, but make sure you get OEM for the other parts. I was disappointed with some of the junk from FCP, like the bolts and nuts. I would get new top plates, with the three screws sticking up. I didn't and the old ones were a bit rusty underneath. Get new mounts, it is easier to work with and you will feel better.
Not a hard job, at least the struts. Surprise: The plastic holder for the ABS sensor needs to be moved from the old strut to the new one. Do this after removing the old strut. There is a tiny plastic pin that needs to be punched out, acting like a pop rivit. I used an awl and pushed it out from the inside of the strut mounting. It is quite fragile, so be careful. I broke the first one :)
