How large is my '99 V70 gas tank?

I returned from a road trip yesterday and put 17.1 gallons of gas in my 1999 V70. Do u think I was running on fumes? I thought they only held 16.6 gallons. What're the specs on this? A couple of weeks ago I averaged 26mpg on a trip up I-95. That seems low even for running 80. What do you think? TIA.
