Never rains but it pours. Replaced instrument bulbs on my 97 GLT wagon here in Norway, only to have the following occur to my 97 R wagon in the States. My sis is driving the R wagon while I'm over here, and this morning I got the following email from her. Could somebody tell me whether I'm looking at a potential PNP switch or ignition switch problem? Hopefully something simpler.
Bro--Had a disconcerting day with the car. I drove to Clarkston for my physical therapy, parked and
turned the car off. Then, since I was early, I turned the key to listen to the radio. Worked fine and then suddenly stopped. I don't remember if I turned the radio off at this point. Anyway, I didn't know what happened, so I turned the key to start the car. Car was in PARK. Wouldn't start. Tried again, wouldn't start (and I didn't grind it). Slight panic at this point with all the electronic gear. So then I got out of the car and shut the door at which point the horn started honking. Real panic, now. How do I turn it off? Fortunately, it turned off when I punched UNLOCK on the key chain. I went back in 15 minutes and
tried starting it again, which it did. The only things that suffered in this whole ordeal were my nerves and the dash clock which had stopped. I reset it. I won't turn the radio on now, EVER.
What does this sound like? Dick
