If you put your car in D and the upshift arrow does not flash, then it is not a tranny problem.

It seems you have 2 choices. Drive the car to an autoparts store and borrow a code reader or take it to a dealer to read the codes.
If the car will not drive and you have to have it towed, either a dealer or good independent Volvo shop is your alternative.
