Yes, use a little of your favorite gasket cinch on the pump side only. I have been using 3M spray adhesive for the past 20+ years with no problems but most anything will work. The glue is not there as a sealant, it is there strictly to hold the gasket in place while you assemble it. If you put some on the engine side it will make the next pump a bitch to do.
