stain on leather?

I bought an xc 90 with tan leather interior. There is a stain of unknown origin on the rear seating surfaces. I want to remove it and am wondering what to use. Any suggestions for stains on leather? I was thinking of rubbing alcohol or "goof off." Don't want to damage the leather.
