ok, here is the response from FCP regarding this question:

Hi XXXX-



We have sold quite a few of the new axles that are made in China and the quality is very decent. We used to sell the rebuilt ones, but these new ones made in China are much better than those ever were. You will be quite satisfied with this axle.

I'm going to give it a try. I think i will save my original and rebuild it for a rainy day just in case.
