installing replacement exhaust 850

I am installing a replacement one piece stock exhaust on my '94 850 wagon...what is the trick to get the thing in position? not much clearance as I try to work the back pipe over the axle...front pipe and muffler seem to wedge against the body and driveway. would appreciate any help/suggestion.
