R134a with sealant

Does anyone have any real world experience using the AC refrigerant with the sealant in it?
I'm in a current "fix it or dump it" dilemma with my 1996 854T (213K). It's been a very reliable car, but she needs maintenance to the tune of quite a bit, as I'm not mechanically inclined I have to get the work done at my local volvo indy shop. It definitely needs timing belt and tune up, front brakes and rotors.
If the AC worked, I'd fix it hands down. But after much dickering around last year, and a new compressor, it comes down to the usual leaky evaportaor (we think). I'm thinking of trying the refrigerant with the sealant. Anyone had any success with this?
Thanks in advance --
