Is this rust on my wheel hub? S40-V40 2004

Did some brake work after getting a helpful advise on how to jack up the V40. On both rear hubs, their surface looked like in the pic below.

Is this normal? Is that rust? Anything to worry? It took some banging of the tyre to get it off the hub. This car has alloy rims if this is related. I've never seen this sort of appearance (rust) on any of the others cars I've worked on.
