HA! Isn't that something. Well, if nothing else, your brother now has first hand knowledge about what to look out for...
A manual top makes a lot of sense once the car has seen a few years. There just aren't any out there save for small two seaters (Miata, MR Spyder). A manual top on a bigger four seat car gets tough. Grandma's got to be able to do it. My only thought on that is to go with a Saab or (gasp) VW only because, powered or not, they've been doing convertibles for so long that surely they've gotten it figured out.
