1997 850 T-5 - Are these strange issues normal? 850 1997

Hi,

I've only had my 850 since last Winter, and before that I had rear wheel drive 240's, and most recent a 940. So, some of these issues could be normal.

1. When there's been some rain, or if I went through a car wash, if I press the brakes at slow speeds, the front left brake makes a strange clunk sound as the wheel turns. It only does this if it's wet, but then goes away after a little bit. Is this normal?

2. Let's say I'm in a parking lot, and want to turn left into a parking spot. Some times when I go to turn the wheel left, I get part way and the steering feels like it stiffens up like that's as far as it will go, but I didn't turn it that far, and one time I just pulled harder, and it released and wheel turned another foot or more. It only does this on left turns. I also hear some knocking sounds when turning left in a parking lot. Last time I had my mechanic look and said everything looked fine. Hmmm. Some times on a off ramp from the freeway, that goes around a left bend, I feel the wheel kind of tightening up, but giving in. It's hard to explain. And now and then

3. Fairly frequently, when I press on the brake pedal, I feel a slight pop (Like it had a kink) sound, and you can feel it in the brake pedal, as if the pedal was a little loose? Is this normal?

4. Also, some times when I'm turning the steering wheel, I will feel a slight pop, like it had a kink. Is this normal?

I really like this car. It runs great. I'm using synthetic motor oil. Do you recommend synthetic transmission fluid?

Thank you,

Michael
