Once your son discovers the tranny "sport" mode it'll be there all the time. From what I've read here and also experienced personally with my used '95 I'd say that year's tranny really can't take much abuse. If you can remove the switch and keep it in the "economy" mode you'll be alot better off and maybe head off future tranny problems.
