The 850 IAC is totally different. It is round and uses an electromagnet to turn the large valve. It can get dirty and a good washing with carb cleaner and a toothbrush might help.
If it is working, the IAC motor will vibrate when the key is in posII. It is easier to pinch the 1 inch hose with the car idling to see if the idle speed goes down.
The 850 is reasonably easy to work on and good examples are hard to find. I found one 80 miles north of the TwinCities, it does need a new O2 sensor, but no big deal. The 850s don't rust, Volvo galvanized everything!!
