Well, my 98 R was getting a little maintenance heavy and my wife didn't like the extra firm suspension with all of the rattles. I wanted a diesel to do my part for carbon reduction, but American trucks were out - too big for my garage.
So I got a MB GL320 with a 3L diesel engine. No rattles, 398lbs of torque, and great mileage for a large barge. Plus, it has a smaller carbon footprint than the Prius and I still get $1800 off my taxes!
Too bad for Volvo, if they just would bring the D5 engine to the USA, I would have bought one of them. Now I am looking at an Altima for my daughter to take to school; I cannot trust a 2000 S70 to run 24/7 or sit parked for a month at a time and restart on command.
