In the older cars the suggestion used to be to replace the distributor cap and rotor. My static problem actually sounds like the whirling of a rotor giving major electrical interference that increases with acceleration. I listened for an improvement at the last change out (quite a while ago) with no noticeable improvement. I'm curious to know if someone has a solution for this or if it's just the nature of AM frequencies that sound like they're twice as far away.
