According to an article I read, the bars are activated by "a pyrotechnic charge." I think it is at least 99% probable you need to go to a dealer. Unless you want to leave those bars in the up position :D Is the Check Engine Light or SRS light on?

This reminds me of an associate who drove his Audi over a curb in a parking lot in 1985, ruining *all 4 wheels and tires*. You can bet that guy had an interesting ride.
