Possibly buying a V70 V70-XC70

I know from personal experience Klaus likes sugar coat new V70 purchases, he must think one more in the hands of a brickboarder is better than one more in the junkyard :)

Drive it and check for surging idle or surging acceleration. Coast slowly over some bumps with the engine in neutral and listen for clicking, rubbing, or clunking. Open the hood while running and check for abnormal clicking from the valve cover. Open the oil filler cap and dip stick and check for smoke and positive pressure while running. Check for water or bubbles on the dip stick oil. Check for tan goo in the coolant reservoir.

Check for the user manual and maintenance book in the glove box. Check to see if it has dealer stamps for any service intervals.
