And I remember the burned valve, what a bummer!
If your engine has a turbo, there is a PCT valve just before the turbo air inlet which needs cleaning once in a while. The NA engines I am not familiar with, but should have a small vacuum line going into the air intake just before the throttle body. Since the PCV screen was removed on NA engines, very few have had problems clogging up with oil residue.
