My S60 is frozen in place. Yesterday my wife and I hopped in for an excursion, put it in gear, and... dragged the RR wheel along the pavement for about 6 feet leaving a nice Nokian skidmark. The RR wheel simply wouldn't rotate. First suspicion was brakes, but I just had the brake fluid changed at the Volvo dealer and they did their usual inspection with no red flags. And this morning I jacked up the car and gripped the wheel. It gives about half an inch either forward or back until it hits resistance, and I can see that the caliper is not binding. As I turn it back and forth it hits a wall of resistance -- "bong!"
There was no warning. Last weekend I ran my errands, parked the car for the Monday snowstorm and left it there all week. Saturday, a nice warm day, it was immobile. Before I call the flatbed and haul it off to stimulate the economy I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me what the heck is going on?
