That sounds odd. What it should do is 1-you get in the car and power up to listen to the radio 2-It asks you for a code 3-you enter the code (4 digits) and it starts right up.
Did you pull the unit and check the contacts. Did you disconnect the battery for a little while. I don't know about leaving on accessory. Is it the right code?
