I don't have much experience w/ 850s, having just bought my first one 3 weeks ago, but if it is like other vehicles I have had I would be 90% sure it is the coil. Check the resistance of your coil, search online and you will find out how. Coils usually have problems only when the heat up or get really hot.
Also, if you haven't done so lately, replace your plug wires, spark plugs, rotor and distributor cap.
All of these things are pretty inexpensive and easy to do yourself and should be done as general maintenance items.
Again, I would almost be willing to bet it is the coil.
