Flashing transmission light on Dashboard V70-XC70 1998

This morning on the highway, the transmission 'up-arrow' started flashing on my dashboard, and then the 'Check Engine' light came on right away, & stayed on. I also noticed that the three lights at the base of the shifter designating 'S'E' and 'W' were also flashing in series (one after the other).
I pulled over & checked the transmission fluid & it was perfectly full. The car didn't appear to be running differently or struggling to shift at all. I pulled off the highway & drove the 8-miles back home without a problem, other than the fact that these lights are all still flashing & staying on. Any ideas?
I'm worried.....
