The screws came with the changer. They were around 5/8 - 3/4" long, self-tapping sheetmetal screws, nothing special. I used all 4 (the changer brackets had four holes pointing downwards). Without the brackets Velcro would have worked fine and was my original plan. After seeing the install a week ago I opted to go this route...the changer gets 1/2" or so of airspace underneath that could help prevent liquid damage when the kids spill something down there (note that I did not say "if").
