Keyless Remote weirdness 850 1995

Greetings,

So I'm having some weirdness with my key fob. Likely the thing needs to be replaced but I figured I'd ask anyway.

I got a new battery for the car, and upon putting the battery inside the fob, it works perfectly! For about 2-3 days. Then, after a while the car stops responding to button presses on the fob. So obviously there's a problem with battery drain - but what could it be that is causing this drain, and what can be done to fix it, besides replacing the fob?

(and, failing that, where can I get a fob besides at the dealer?)
