Hi Neil,

I'm part of the "'98 V70AWD group" and have recently considered selling it & replacing with a FWD to avoid the potential problems. I too have heard most of the stories, and empirical data would be nice. I'm at 58k miles, everythings seems okay, but who knows? I'm thinking I'll get rid of it, but not entirely sure. I love the car in every other aspect. I'm fairly religious about tire pressures, etc. I'm also a stubborn ass & hate to "run away from it." With my decent maintenance, I usually wring cars for every penny.

One thing stuck out: you mentioned that everybody in your group has a manual transmission. Mine is auto (70 mile round trip commute in heavy traffic). What are your thoughts? I've asked othe opinions, would like to hear yours. Thanks much.
