98 S70 Strut Work S70 1998

LOL

The strut mount and bolts should be OEM, not FCP. Call your dealer and get the large bolts and the mount for an XC90, it is heavy duty and still fits properly.

The large nut on top is just the locking nut, you can loosen it 1/2 turn if you want. The star nut is under that. Both are torqued at 50lbs, but I just took a wild guess - my torque wrench sockets didn't fit the star anyway.

It took me 1.5 hours to do each side, I replaced the struts at the same time because they had 150K miles on them. I also got IPD involved with the end links because they are better than OEM.

When removing the ABS sensor, there is a very small plastic pin that goes through the holder. Punch it out before you break the plastic holder, the pin must be reused.

If you are going to replace the struts with OEM, or leave the original struts alone, scribe the outline of the strut mount so that when you put it back on it will be very close to proper alignment. Get an alignment anyway, it is good to do that.
